Over 40?  You should do this to stay healthy

Like it or not, that darn biological clock is ticking away for all of us.  

And that means that our bodies will inevitably start to show signs of being, well, worn out!

Plus our environment doesn’t help this cause!  There are several factors all around us that definitely don’t work in our favor when it comes to aging.

Even if you have the best diet in the world and exercise like an Olympian, there are certain facts and forces that you can’t entirely eliminate and they can take a tremendous toll on your health.

Here’s what I mean.

Five inconvenient health truths associated with aging

Like it or not, all of us will face these realities to a certain degree, especially once we reach age 40:

1- As we age, our body’s production of digestive enzymes decreases.  This can lead to acid reflux, gas, bloating and constipation.

2- Our metabolism also slows down and we are less efficient at absorbing nutrients (and more efficient at gaining weight!).

3- Stress compromises our immune system functioning, making us more susceptible to sickness and disease.  Plus stress also causes depletion of nutrients, especially vitamin C.

1- Start with your diet

Now, don’t you dare throw your hands up in the air or use lower nutrient content in foods as justification to eat whatever garbage you want.

Do your grocery shopping in the outer perimeter of the store—fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, poultry and fish, dairy, real butter and eggs.  Also check out farmer’s markets and CSA (community supported agriculture) opportunities in your area to get the freshest foods at dramatic savings.
