2,000 year-old advice beats modern medicine at treating disease

I have an intriguing quote for you today about the relationship between food and health.  See if you can guess who said it:

“Leave your drugs in the chemist’s pot if you can heal the patient with food.”

Know who said it?

Give up?

Hippocrates.  The Father of Modern Medicine.

Hippocrates recognized that most sickness and disease has its roots in nutritional deficiencies, and he helped his patients regain their health safely and naturally through their diet.

Although some pharmaceutical drugs existed, they were only used on rare occasions.

A complete 180

Too bad "Modern Medicine" has done a complete 180.

Now 2,000 years after Hippocrates died, we are living in an age where we are told that diet doesn’t matter, we don’t know what causes disease, and anyone that dares to question the modern medicine dogma or explore natural measures is a crackpot.

And we are like well-behaved “Sheeple” lining up at the pharmacy, popping our daily meds, getting sicker and fatter and wondering why.

Hippocrates is probably rolling over in his grave.

So where did the shift come from?

Interestingly enough, our move away from thousands of years of natural, plant-based healing to masking symptoms with prescription drugs came from the oil industry!

Around the beginning of the 20th century, oil magnate John D. Rockefeller initiated a shift in the medical industry toward using oil-derived pharmaceuticals.  What better way to expand his revenue stream?

After he established the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research in 1901, an extensive report on the state of the medical system—the “Flexner Report”—was written in 1910 which dismissed natural remedies as quackery, and stressed that only drug-based medicine should be taken seriously.

The Rockefeller Foundation began showering the medical industry with research dollars to produce studies that promoted their oil-based drugs as the cure.  (Sounds a lot like our modern-day drug companies.)

And joint efforts by Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie and J.P. Morgan financed surgery, radiation and drugs, ensuring that they became the indisputable standards of care.

Disease management has continued

The interesting thing about drugs is that, aside from antibiotics that kill a bacterial infection, they don’t “cure” a thing!  All they do is mask symptoms by interfering with one or more of your body’s functions or processes.

So, since they cure nothing, what our modern medical community is providing is not “health care”—it is disease management!

Very lucrative disease management, I might add.  So it’s no wonder that nutrition is largely ignored in our modern health care system—lots of dollars would be lost if people got healthier by eating better.

Plus you can’t teach what you don’t know.  Most mainstream doctors take only one basic course about nutrition in school.  So in fairness to them, why would it even enter their minds to talk about diet as a solution to your health problems?

So who can you listen to?

Now you're probably wondering who can guide you on how to use the power of nutrition to achieve great health and alleviate or prevent chronic disease?

I can.

As a holistic nutrition coach who is not “funded” by any association and who understands how nutrients can make or break your health, I can guide you on simple yet effective changes that will make all the difference in the world in how you feel.

Health starts in your gut, my friend, with nutritious foods, sound digestion and effective nutrient absorption.

Here’s what you need to do:

1- Use food as your medicine

If you're ready to end the cycle of pain, illness, doctors, prescription drugs and massive medical bills (or prevent them to begin with) and see what a difference diet can make, let me guide you with my Great Taste No Pain health system.

Great Taste No Pain teaches you the science of food combining which shows you how to pair wholesome real foods together in your meals to pave the way for smooth, comfortable digestion and proper acid/alkaline balance.

This is crucial because if your body is overrun with acid wastes from processed foods and hard to digest meals, and your pH is not maintained at the slightly alkaline range where it should be, pigs will fly before you feel good and/or attain a normal body weight.

Plus if your digestion is poor, in addition to gas, bloating, heartburn and constipation being your regular companions, you will not be absorbing nutrients like you should, and that sets the stage for disease to come knocking.

With Great Taste No Pain you'll also get menu suggestions, and a collection of delicious, easy recipes that make eating for great health thoroughly enjoyable!

2- Support your gut microbiome

Not only has the typical modern-day diet and heavy use of pharmaceutical drugs helped chronic disease and obesity to flourish, but they've also been murder on your gut microbiome.

The beneficial bacteria in your intestinal tract house 70 percent of your immune system as well as help keep your digestion smooth and efficient and enhance your absorption of nutrients.

So if you're lacking a strong, healthy population of "good guys" in your gut, your digestion is most assuredly compromised, you are likely risking nutritional deficiencies, and your immune function is low—so you are without its vital protection against disease.

A healthy diet of real foods can help support your friendly flora, but for the average person who has had a typical highly processed diet for a long time and/or has taken prescription drugs, it may not be enough.

That's why supplementation with a potent multi-strain probiotic like Super Shield multi-strain probiotic formula can be so helpful for SO many people.

Super Shield's 13 high-quality strains of potent friendly bacteria are ready to help strengthen your gut wall, enhance your digestion, encourage regular BMs and beef up your immune system.

And if you do need to take any medications (especially antibiotics), Super Shield can help counteract their harmful effects in your gut.

When it comes to achieving real lasting health and avoiding disease, do what works.

Rely on 2,000 year-old advice and help your body from within.

If you do, I'm sure you'll see a difference very soon.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
