I can’t tell you the number of times I have heard or read about a health practitioner saying things like:
You don’t need a multivitamin—it’s just a waste of money.
You get all the nutrients you need from your food.
It won’t make any difference in your health.
All of these statements could not be more untrue and here’s why:
You don’t need it
First of all, unless someone has gone through extensive nutrient testing, there’s no way anyone can say they “don’t need a multivitamin.”
Fact is, most of us are deficient in at least some nutrients (vitamins D and B12 are common), and considering most diseases have their roots in nutrient deficiencies, supplementing with a multi is not a “waste of money”—it’s an investment in your health!
Nutrients from food
As far getting “all your needed nutrients from food” goes, that may have been true at one time, but it certainly isn’t now.
The so-called foods that line our store shelves today are ultraprocessed and could not be farther from anything that would nourish you. In most cases, you’d be better off eating an old shoe.
Plus, even “fresh foods”—our crops and meat supply—are affected!
Due to bioengineering of crops, genetic modifications and depletion of soil minerals because of mass-farming, our crops today are far less nutritious than they were even a few decades ago.
And the animals we raise for our consumption are no longer allowed to graze in pastures as they once did, which has dramatically decreased the levels of crucial Omega-3 fats in their meat and eggs.
Plus, they are frequently pumped full of antibiotics and hormones to boot, and those drugs become a part of YOU when you eat these foods.
It won’t make any difference in your health
This is the biggie.
While you might not notice an overnight change in your health when you start supplementing with a multivitamin, it won’t take very long to see a difference.
Here’s what I mean:
Week 1—Subtle changes in energy levels
After regularly taking a multivitamin for a week, you may start to notice a little boost in your energy level.
The mid-afternoon, post-lunch “slumps” you experienced start to decrease, as your body benefits from the B vitamins it may have needed.
And since your body will also be receiving an array of other nutrients it may have been lacking for quite a while, this too will support higher energy levels.
Week 2—Clearer mind and improved mood
After week 2 of a multi-vitamin, you may notice mental fog starting to dissipate. This is especially true if you may have been lacking B12 or magnesium.
Vitamin D helps in this regard too! Vitamin D is vital for mental health (deficiency is a common underlying cause of depression), so you can experience fewer mood swings and feel less stressed.
Week 3—Sharper immune system
With three weeks of multivitamin use under your belt, your immune system can become sharper and stronger.
That’s because it has the vitamin C, vitamin D and zinc it may have needed for so long!
So you could notice yourself getting sick less often, and even if you do come down with a cold or flu, your body will likely recover much more quickly.
Week 4 and beyond—Lasting change
After 4 or more weeks of taking a multivitamin, this is where your body really starts to say thank you in a lasting way.
Your hair may feel thicker and look shinier, your nails will be stronger and your skin smoother due to much-needed biotin and antioxidants.
Over time your bone health and heart health can improve, and, due to the strengthening of your immune system, you will likely lower your overall risk of cancer too!
Your memory and cognition can improve too as your brain has the essential nutrients it needs to function properly.
The bottom line
Don’t listen to the nay-sayers who may tell you otherwise—the fact is, multivitamin use will ALWAYS benefit you in some way and it is NEVER a waste of money!
And I am proud to say our very own Super Core multi-vitamin and mineral formula is one of the best!
I hand selected all the nutrients in Super Core to provide an effective, health-supporting variety of essential vitamins and minerals.
Plus, Super Core’s complete blend goes beyond most other multis and also includes natural sources of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories!
Antioxidants are your body’s “protective army” against the dangerous effects of free radicals.
Free radicals have been associated with premature aging, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, Type 2 diabetes, cataracts, and arthritis, among other things.
Antioxidants help control free radicals and combat their dangerous effects…but they can only carry out this important job if there are enough of them!
Super Core contains antioxidant vitamins C and E plus zinc and selenium, as well as lutein, lycopene, and zeaxanthin, resveratrol and the “cream of the antioxidant crop”—alpha lipoic acid!
Anti-inflammatories are also becoming increasingly important for the average person.
Many of us are in states of chronic inflammation due to things like consumption of refined carbohydrates, smoking, medication use, gut microbiome imbalances and stress.
Super Core’s unique formula includes the soothing natural anti-inflammatories turmeric, Indian frankincense extract and ginger—herbs that have been recognized for centuries for their inflammation-fighting properties.
Give your body what it needs!
