Is Your ‘Healthy’ Beef Alternative Hiding a Not-So-Healthy Secret?

I’ve probably said this more times than I can count, but I’m going to say it again:

The farther you venture away from Nature with what you eat, the less nutritious (and more harmful) it is to your body.

This is especially true when it comes to the current food craze that is rapidly expanding and growing in popularity…

Fake meat!

Here’s what fake meat really is, and why you shouldn’t be fooled by all the “healthy” and “environmentally conscious” claims.

What is this stuff?

Fake meat is praised as a plant-based alternative to traditional beef that allegedly replicates the flavor, texture and aroma of real beef.

Of course, the expression “plant-based” suggests something that’s natural and good for you, but nothing could be farther from the truth.

Fake meat may start out with a base material of plants (especially soy), but then it take a sharp right turn and ventures away from anything even closely resembling a plant. In fact, fake meat is actually a hodge-podge of ultra-processed chemicals, genetically engineered yeast and inflammatory oils.

The manufacturers start by combining protein from soy and other sources. Then they add in several other chemicals and ingredients, run the concoction through a serious of processing steps, and ultimately create an end product that may resemble meat in its appearance, but the ingredients actually read like a mad scientist’s lab experiment—not a health food.

For example, according to the Impossible Burgers’ package label, the ingredients include: Soy Protein Concentrate, Sunflower Oil (a highly inflammatory fat), “Natural Flavors” (whatever that means), Methylcellulose, Cultured Dextrose, Modified Food Starch, Yeast Extract, Soy Leghemoglobin, Salt, Mixed Tocopherols, and Soy Protein Isolate.

Tell me, does any of that sound “healthy” to you?

And Beyond Burgers contain an incredible 22 ingredients including canola oil (one of the worst inflammatory oils on the planet)!

The effects are emerging

As the saying goes, the truth always comes out in the end, and that includes the truth about fake meat.

A recent study out of the University of Surrey has shown that vegetarians who consumed plant-based meats had a 42 percent higher risk of depression than those who did not eat those products.

The study also found that people who eat fake meat have higher levels of triglycerides and C-reactive protein, which are indicative of systemic inflammation and an increased risk of heart disease.

Also, fake meat eaters exhibited elevated blood pressure levels and higher BMI (body mass index), which also raises heart disease risk.

And if that’s not enough, many of the ingredients in fake meat are made from genetically engineered soy, which means they are also loaded with glyphosate (the main ingredient in the herbicide RoundUp). Glyphosate disrupts your gut microbiome, impacts your digestion and immune system function and is associated with increased risk of various cancers.

But what about the environment?

One of the marketing spins on fake meat is that it allegedly is a more environmentally friendly alternative to beef from livestock raised in the “mass production factory farms” otherwise known as concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs).

Cows raised in CAFOs consume about 30 pounds of corn and soy for every pound of meat produced, and all that corn and soy require LOTS of harmful herbicides to be sprayed.

Plus the animals are maintained in very inhumane conditions, their wastes contaminate surrounding air and water supplies, and they are given large quantities of antibiotics which contributes to widespread antibiotic resistance.

While it may be true that the cow food used in CAFOs requires heavy herbicide use which is harmful to the environment, and the wastes contaminate air and water supplies, that’s not true of grass-fed beef.

So, if the environment is really the concern, why aren’t the globalists (who aim to control our food supply) and food companies instead trying to find ways to expand the number of farms that practice grass-fed cattle ranching and regenerative farming?

Let’s get back to Nature!

Your body was designed to eat REAL foods--fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, eggs, animal-based fats (like real butter, tallow and lard) and meats, poultry, and fish. That's what your body depends on for nourishment, sound digestion and elimination of waste.

(Please note that if you are someone who objects to using animal-based products and foods, there are healthy organic options available to you without ingesting the “Franken-meats” ... I strongly urge you to explore them.)

The easiest way to accomplish this goal is to do the majority of your grocery shopping in the outer perimeter of the store—where the real foods are located.

Also, patronize local farmers, regional markets and Community Supported Agriculture programs.

Get to know who produces food around your area—this will increase your chances of doing business with farmers who allow their cattle and chickens to graze like they should, and who resist using dangerous pesticides and herbicides.

Help your body recover too!

If you've been a processed food lover for a while, chances are excellent your gut microbiome might not be as healthy as it should be.

Processed foods (especially refined carbs) become nourishment for the harmful bacteria and yeasts in the intestinal tract, so they can thrive and overcome your beneficial bacteria.

Not only can this worsen gas, bloating and constipation, but your immune system can be greatly hampered too (since 80 percent of your immune cells reside in your gut).

In addition to a healthy diet of real foods which nourishes your gut, probiotic supplementation can help you achieve this important goal—and Super Shield multi-strain probiotic formula is the way to go.

Super Shield's full-spectrum blend of 13 strains of potent, effective friendly bacteria are up to the task--ready to line your intestinal walls, repopulate your supply of helpful bacteria, keep yeasts and harmful bacteria in check, encourage regular BMs and support your immune system!

Stay away from “fake foods,” feed your body the delicious REAL foods it is meant to have, and help it recover from past “processed food abuse” and I’m sure it will thank you handsomely for years to come!

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
