Guess who had a heart attack…and how you can lower your risk

American Heart Association (AHA) President Dr. John Warner (a cardiologist) suffered a heart attack at a health conference in Anaheim, CA last month.

Thankfully he was taken to a local hospital where doctors inserted a stent to open a clogged artery and is reportedly doing well.

But you must admit it is the ultimate irony…

And all I can say is that if Dr. Warner embraces the dietary recommendations of the American Heart Association, well, it’s not surprising.

Here’s what I mean:

For the record

The AHA has been giving “heart healthy” dietary advice since about the 1950’s, and although some changes have been made here and there, they generally recommend avoiding saturated fats, and choosing polyunsaturated vegetable oils and margarines.

How helpful has this advice been?

You tell me.

Currently it is estimated that one out of two people in the US will develop some form of heart disease in their lifetime.

And while there are other factors playing into that statistic (including our sedentary lifestyles), it appears the “heart healthy” dietary advice we’ve heard for the last 60 years isn’t very healthy for our hearts, is it?

As a matter of fact, the polyunsaturated oils recommended by the AHA are unstable and stir up a tremendous amount of inflammation in your system…and it is inflammation that is the primary culprit behind heart disease!

With a little help from my friends

So why on earth would the AHA recommend that people use inflammation-stirring oils and margarines, and demonize healthy, stable saturated fats?

Well, it might help to know that the US Canola Association and the US Soybean Board are both on the AHA’s Nutrition Advisory Panel, so that may be just a bit of an influence.

New high blood pressure guidelines too

In addition to regurgitating their position that saturated fats are the devil, the AHA has also recently changed the threshold by which someone is considered to have high blood pressure from 140/90 down to 130/80.

And you know what that means.

Potentially millions more Americans will arrive in the land of the diagnosed, and of course many will be prescribed high blood pressure medication.

I predict cholesterol guidelines will change next.  After all, the pharmaceutical industry needs to sell more statins, plus there is a cholesterol vaccine on the horizon too.

Chi-ching!

Stop being a sheeple!

When it comes to your health, please do yourself a favor and stop being a sheeple.

Follow the money, question everything and don’t blindly swallow what you are fed by industries (Big Med, Big Food and Big Pharma) that make billions off you, especially when you are sick.

Keep it close to Nature with your diet.  Stick with a variety of real foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, poultry and fish, dairy, eggs, nuts, coconut oil, olive oil and real butter—never, EVER margarine.

And just as important is to avoid refined sugars and starchy carbs, and all processed foods.  These create inflammation in your system and practically guarantee a trip to the cardiologist is in your future.

Nutritionally support your body’s fight against heart disease

When you give your body the nutritional support it needs to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, you are on the path to heart disease prevention!

The three key nutrients for cardiovascular support are vitamin D, Omega-3 essential fatty acids and vitamin B12.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D has anti-inflammatory properties that can counteract inflammation in your arteries.  It’s also a common deficiency because so many people completely shun the sun, and your body needs sun exposure (and cholesterol!) to manufacture vitamin D.

To ensure you have proper levels of this heart-healthy nutrient, supplementation with a top-notch formula like Optimum D-K Formula with FruiteX-B® is the way to go.  Optimum DK provides a therapeutic dose of 5,000 IUs of vitamin D3, plus it includes vitamins K1 and 2 and the mineral boron, which work with D3 to naturally support strong cardiovascular health.

Omega-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 EFAs have been medically proven to help lower blood pressure, they can fight inflammation in your arteries and they help reduce the stickiness in your platelets and curb fibrinogens (which contribute to plaque buildup if left unchecked).

VitalMega-3 fish oil formula is your ticket to getting a health-supporting dose of these crucial fats.  VItalMega-3 provides an artery-loving 1,200 mg of pharmaceutical-grade Omega-3 fats in every 2-capsule serving, including the superstars EPA and DHA!

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 works to convert homocysteine in your blood to a harmless amino acid.  If allowed to build up, homocysteine can cause inflammation in your blood vessels and raise your heart disease risk.

Hydroxaden 2.5 is an easy, effective way to ensure your body has the B12 it needs for this vital task.  Hydroxaden is sprayed under your tongue so that B12 can be effectively absorbed right into your bloodstream.

Other important cardiovascular health tips

Here are other important ways to support the health of your ticker and vessels:

Get regular exercise

Exercise lowers your blood pressure, strengthens your heart and improves blood flow.

Don’t allow yourself to make excuses—we’re talking about your health and your life here!  Get your doctor’s OK and get working up a sweat.

Get 7-9 hours of sleep each night

Studies have shown that adults who sleep fewer than five hours a night have 50 percent more calcium in their coronary arteries than those who slept seven hours.  Calcium buildup is a primary signal of heart disease.

Reduce stress

Chronic stress leads to high levels of the stress hormone cortisol in your bloodstream.  Elevated cortisol can trigger inflammation, as well as lower your immune function, lead to digestive difficulties and nutritional deficiencies, and sap your energy and mental focus.

So do whatever it takes to reduce stress in your life, keeping in mind that exercise is by far the #1 stress reducer!

Now you have a solid plan to naturally help reduce your risk of heart disease!

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
