6 Essential Women’s Health Tips to Stay Strong, Vibrant & Thriving

I was once asked a question at a health freedom conference that truly stopped me in my tracks — and today, I want to share it with all of my female readers:

What can a woman do to keep herself healthy?

That’s a loaded question! My mind flooded with possibilities, and I had to pause and really reflect on what I believe matters most.

After giving it thoughtful consideration, here’s what I came up with:

Sherry’s Top 6 Tips for Women’s Health

💗 Tip #1: Find the Right Doctor

Your doctor should be your partner in supporting your health.

If your current provider doesn’t listen to your concerns, answer your questions, or makes you feel rushed, dismissed, pressured, or intimidated — please consider finding someone new. You deserve a practitioner who treats you with respect and genuinely cares about your well-being.

Look for a doctor who practices integrative medicine — blending holistic therapies with modern medical science for a comprehensive approach to wellness.

My personal physician is Dr. John Salerno of the Salerno Center for Complementary Medicine in Manhattan (he treats me remotely while I’m in Florida!). He has played a significant role in helping me maintain my strong state of health.

🏃♀️ Tip #2: Engage in the Fitness Activity That’s Right for You

Regular exercise is not optional if you want to remain healthy into your golden years. It’s foundational.

But here’s the key: choose something you enjoy.

Not what your coworker does.
Not what your friend swears by.
Not what some fitness influencer insists is “the only way.”

Brisk walking, home workout programs, swimming, yoga, martial arts, strength training, or even line dancing — it all counts!

Here in Florida, line dancing nights are packed with women having a blast while getting their steps in. It’s wonderful to see.

Better yet? Get a buddy. You’ll laugh, connect, and stay accountable. My training partner Mariana and I have a blast at martial arts class — punching and kicking included!

If you’re unsure where to start, consider working with a personal trainer. And always get your doctor’s OK first, especially if you’re new to exercise.

🧘♀️ Tip #3: Reduce Stress

Chronic stress is a true health wrecker.

It weakens immune function, increases the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes, contributes to hormonal imbalance, disrupts digestion, encourages weight gain, and can even accelerate aging.

Managing stress isn’t optional — it’s essential.

Natural stress-reduction tools include:

  • Exercise

  • Yoga and meditation

  • Deep breathing

  • Prayer

  • Essential oils

  • Massage

  • Warm baths

  • Relaxing music

  • Visualization

  • Acupuncture (my personal go-to!)

Also, learn to say no when your plate is full. Boundaries are healthy. And carve out “me time,” even if it’s just reading a chapter in a book.

🦠 Tip #4: Keep Your Gut Healthy

Health truly begins in the gut for two major reasons:

  1. 70–80% of your immune system lives there.

  2. Your digestive tract is where nutrients are absorbed and waste is eliminated.

If your gut isn’t functioning well, your entire body feels it.

To support a strong gut microbiome:

  • Eat at least five servings (ideally more) of fresh vegetables and fruits daily

  • Avoid refined carbohydrates, processed foods, and seed oils

  • Limit unnecessary antibiotics and acid-reducing medications

  • Incorporate fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, kimchi, kombucha, and sauerkraut

  • Supplement with a full-spectrum probiotic

Super Shield contains 15 powerful probiotic strains designed to support digestive balance, regular bowel movements, and reduced gas and bloating — all while strengthening immune function.

🌺 Tip #5: Get Hormonal Testing & Explore Natural Options

Hormonal changes are one of the biggest health shifts women face as we age.

If you suspect perimenopause or menopause, get properly tested. Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) has been life-changing for many women and is generally considered a safer option than synthetic hormones.

Thyroid health is also critical. Hypothyroidism is extremely common in women. If thyroid replacement is recommended, natural desiccated thyroid options such as Armour Thyroid or NP Thyroid provide a full spectrum of thyroid hormones (T1, T2, T3, and T4) and may be appropriate under physician supervision.

Knowledge is power. Don’t ignore symptoms — investigate them.

☀️ Tip #6: Make Sure You Have Enough Vitamin D

Vitamin D provides a powerful triple benefit for women:

  1. Supports cardiovascular and immune health

  2. Helps regulate immune balance in autoimmune conditions

  3. Strengthens bones and protects against osteoporosis

Aim for moderate sun exposure (around 20 minutes when appropriate), and consider supplementation to maintain optimal levels year-round.

Optimum DK Formula provides 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 along with vitamins K1, K2, and boron — nutrients that work synergistically to support bone, immune, and heart health.

💐 Final Thoughts

Ladies, it’s time to take intentional steps toward protecting your health — today and for decades to come.

You are beautiful.
You deserve to feel vibrant.
You are absolutely worth the effort.

To your health and with lots of love,
Sherry Brescia
