A sneaky cause of major health issues—is it affecting you?

If you've ever had a stomach bug, food poisoning or traveler's diarrhea, you've experienced first-hand the nasty world of harmful bacteria in your gut.  Illnesses like these create vivid memories of it “coming out both ends" and the relief you felt when it finally passed!

In an ideal world, our only dealings with dangerous gut bacteria would be limited to the occasional "bug."

But we don't live in an ideal world.

There are many other detrimental effects of harmful bacteria overgrowth (dysbiosis) in your gut that I'd be willing to bet my firstborn that you have no clue about.

Trouble is, you need to know about them!  Because only then can you recognize them in yourself and more importantly, do something about it.

Here are 9 of the not-so-well-known ways dangerous bacteria can harm you and quite possibly destroy your health:

The sneaky wrath of dangerous gut bacteria

1- They deactivate enzymes made in your pancreas (like trypsin and chymotrypsin) that are needed to properly digest proteins.

Result: Incomplete digestion; gas, bloating and constipation.

2- They eat away at the vitamin B12 you take in with your diet, which can lead to a B12 deficiency.

Result: In addition to pernicious anemia, B12 deficiency can also cause symptoms of mania and psychosis, fatigue, memory impairment, irritability, depression and personality changes, to name a few.

3- They produce ammonia, thereby increasing the work load on your liver and kidneys to detoxify the ammonia and eliminate it.

Result: Liver and kidney stress.  Long term, chronic stress to these organs leads to failure…as in dialysis, transplant or death.

4- They inactivate the enzymes which digest sugars.

Result: Even MORE messed-up digestion, gas, bloating and pain.

5- They destroy essential fatty acids and turn them into free radicals.

Result: A once-essential, helpful, life-giving nutrient now becomes a disease-creating, inflammation-stirring monster.

6- They produce carcinogens (cancer-causing substances) from the food you've eaten.

Result: Pretty self-explanatory--your food can now increase your risk of cancer.

7- They gobble up your nutrients and then produce toxins that eat away at your gut lining, causing it to leak (also known as "leaky gut syndrome").

Result: This creates immune imbalance and can lead to autoimmune conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia and lupus, to name a few.

8- They produce enzymes that affect the normal metabolism of hormones like estrogen.

Result: "Worn out" estrogen which was ready to leave your body with your feces gets reabsorbed instead and creates high estrogen levels, which can lead to fibrocystic breast disease and hormone-dependent cancers.

9- They enter the bloodstream from the GI tract and travel everywhere in the body.

Result: Infections and inflammation just about anywhere--the entire body is fair game since your bloodstream goes everywhere.

I'm sad to say this isn't even a complete list!

So if you've been lulled into a false sense of security about the health of your gut thinking, "I must be OK because I don't get stomach aches," think again.

There are many things that may be quietly festering inside of you and you won't have a clue...until the doctor says, "Uh, we have a problem here."

Don't let that happen to you--especially when there's SO much you can do to help!

Here are some simple but very effective measures you can take to keep that gut of yours in tip-top shape:

Supplement with Super Shield multi-strain probiotic formula.

Super Shield truly is a "gold standard" probiotic containing both Lactobacillus species (for your small intestine) and Bifidobacteria (which colonize in your colon), as well as inulin, which is prebiotic nourishment for your friendly gut inhabitants!

Its full-spectrum blend of 13 strains of potent, feisty friendly bacteria will help repopulate your supply of beneficial bacteria, helping to keep your microbiome in a healthier balance.

Get enough fiber

Note that I’m not talking about Metamucil or sugary breakfast cereals here!

I’m talking about natural sources of fiber like fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains.  Even just committing to eating a tossed salad every day can be a huge step in the right direction!

If you need some good ideas on how to enjoy fiber-rich foods and keep your digestion humming soundly, check out the Great Taste No Pain system.

Great Taste No Pain gives you yummy ideas on how to prepare wholesome, high-fiber foods that are positively scrumptious.  Plus it also teaches you what foods together to pair in your meals for smooth, efficient digestion, and less gas, bloating and constipation!

Avoid refined carbs

Sugars and refined carbs feed the harmful bacteria in your gut, and this opens the door for them to overcome your beneficial bacteria.

The biggest offender here is soda, but also guilty are sweets, pasta, white breads, snack chips and crackers.

Take antibiotics ONLY when absolutely necessary

Antibiotics destroy dangerous bacteria, which is why they’ve been rightfully praised for saving lives, but they also destroy your friendly bacteria too!

This leaves you even MORE susceptible to illness in the long run, since most of your immune system is in your gut.

While antibiotics may be necessary at times, talk to your doctor and avoid antibiotic overuse.  Many illnesses are viral and pass on their own with rest, fluids and healthy foods anyway.

Reduce stress

Stress causes harmful changes to your gut microbiome, which in turn weakens your immune system functioning.

That’s why you always seem to get sick when you’re under stress—your body literally can’t defend itself against illness like it should.

Do whatever you need to do to reduce stress, keeping in mind that regular exercise is one of the best, most health-producing stress reduction measures there is.

Take care of your gut NOW--you couldn't do anything smarter and more effective to help enhance your health from head to toe.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
